Keynote Address
On Monday, March 24th students had the opportunity to attend a keynote address by Gilbert Yancey, the Executive Director of the F. David Fowler Career Center. Mr. Yancey gave a wonderful speech on the importance of networking, and the types of people everyone needs in their network to be successful. His address was incredibly insightful leaving attendees truly inspired by the success of a minority leader. This event served as a starting point to an ongoing relationship between Mr. Yancey and the Multicultural Business Student Association.

Networking Dinner
On Tuesday, March 25th thirty students attended a Networking Dinner with professionals from PwC, Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, Hilton, and Discovery Communications. During the dinner students were able to learn about the various company cultures as well as the individual professional successes of the company representatives. Students walked away with many new connections that were willing to help them in any way with their professional endeavors. Many of the professionals in attendance expressed interest in further involvement with The Multicultural Business Student Association’s future events, along with collaborating with the F. David Fowler Career Center in the future.

Succeeding in Corporate America Panel
This panel took place on Wednesday, March 26th and included various professionals with diverse backgrounds within the corporate world. Panelist gave personal perspectives on their experiences within Corporate America, providing students with tips to be successful in the environment. They spoke a lot about the importance of networking, finding a good mentor, and determining the best fit which you can thrive in professionally. Students appreciated how candid the panelists were about the pros and cons of working in a corporate environment as opposed to a smaller business. Attendees walked away with a deeper understanding of what to expect within corporate environments.

LinkedIn Workshop
The LinkedIn Workshop served as the final event for MBSA Week on March 27th. Yuhannes Watts from Learn2Link conducted the workshop, showing students how to effectively use a variety of tools offered on LinkedIn. Mr. Watts highlighted the importance of connecting with alumni and shared some success stories of individuals doing so. Attendees left with many new connections, as well as with the confidence to reach out to professionals through LinkedIn.
