Meet the 2015 E-Board
Nathan Hastings-Spaine is from Laurel, Maryland and is currently a senior in the George Washington University School of Business. He is concentrating in Finance. As President he hopes to continue to build MBSA's brand and implement structures to ensure the longevity of the organization. Nathan also hopes to expand on MBSA's current membership and develop Alumni relationship. In addition to MBSA, Nathan is a Student Coordinator in the F. David Fowler Career Center.
Cory Shaffer is from Los Angeles, CA and is currently a junior at the George Washington University School of Business. He is studying to obtain his Bachelors of Accountancy. In his new role as Co-President, Cory hopes to expand upon the efforts of MBSA by engaging in new opportunities, developing current program initiatives and strengthening relationships with students, employers and GW faculty. Cory’s goal is for MBSA to serve as a valuable resource to all students at GW as they begin to pursue opportunities in the professional world. Outside of his role in MBSA, Cory serves as a treasurer to another GW student org and is also a Student Coordinator in the F. David Fowler Career Center.
Tyrell Charles is from Brooklyn, New York and is currently a senior in the George Washington University School of Business. He is concentrating in Marketing and Information Systems & Technology Management. As Creative Director, Tyrell is tasked with developing marketing initiatives to strategically align MBSA's mission with the student body's needs. He is also responsible for generating promotional materials and advertising for MBSA's events. Outside of MBSA, Tyrell is a Community Service Aide Program Supervisor for the George Washington University Police Department and has served as a Campus Development intern for GW's Division of Operations.
Victoria Walls is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is currently a senior in the George Washington University School of Business. She is concentrating in Event Management. As VP External Affairs Coordinator her goal is to further develop and strengthen MBSA’s relationships with other student organizations and corporate representatives. Outside of MBSA, Victoria is member of GW’s hip hop dance group Capital Funk and an Undergraduate Assistant for GW Events and Venues.
Maxwell Young is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is currently a junior in the George Washington University School of Business. He is concentrating in finance and minoring in economics. As the Vice President of Finance, Maxwell is responsible for the budgetary allocations of the organization as well as fundraising efforts. He also hopes to redefine MBSA’s website by adding written editorials to its blog section. Outside of MBSA, Maxwell runs a culture website called InTheRoughStyle.com.
Sydney Vann is from New York, NY and is currently a sophomore in the George Washington University School of Business. She is concentrating in Marketing with a double minor of Communications and Sociology. As VP of Marketing, her goal is to further strengthen the network of minority undergraduates in the business school through developing new strategies and using social media to maximize MBSA's presence within GW. Outside of MBSA, Sydney is a member of the Black Student Union (BSU) and the host of her weekly talk show on Youtube entitled "The Kickback Sessions."
Brandon Lloyd is from Westchester, NY, and is currently a sophomore in the George Washington University School of Business. He is pursuing a BBA degree with a concentration in Finance. In his new role as VP of Communications, Brandon hopes to increase the presence and visibility of MBSA not just within the business school, but around campus as well. In MBSA, he hopes to facilitate more interaction in between incoming freshman and upperclassmen in order to provide them with a number of internship and career resources to aid them during their tenure at George Washington. Aside from MBSA, Brandon is serving as the Co-Marketing chair on the e-board of GWU Black Men’s Initiative.
Miles Awofala is from San Francisco, CA, and is currently a freshman in the George Washington University School of Business. He is pursuing a BBA degree with a dual concentration in Sports Management and International Business. He is currently a freshman representative for the MBSA. Outside of the MBSA, he is a member of GWU Black Men's Initiative, GW Fuego and the jazz program at George Washington University.
Mustafa Ghasletwala is from Hightstown, New Jersey and is currently a freshman in the George Washington University School of Business. He plans to concentrate in either Finance or Sports Management. He is currently a freshman representative for the MBSA. Outside of MBSA, Mustafa is member of GW’s Resident Hall Advisers Organization and Freshman Rep for the South Asian Society.
